The Sea Art Festival 2013, Video Advertisement as a Work of Art!
- a Video Advertisement with Story -
The Busan Biennale Organizing Committee is making an attempt to combine fine art with video advertisement for the Sea Art Festival 2013.
While many festival events use video advertisements as means to deliver information, the Organizing Committee sought to create an advertisement that can amplify brand values of the Sea Art Festival, a unique marine art festival of contemporary art.
The Organizing Committee plans to produce a video advertisement that is both informational and artistic for an effective PR of the Sea Art Festival 2013 and its exhibition theme, which will strengthen the festival’s brand power. Focusing on the exhibition theme, “With Songdo: Remembrance·Marks·People,” and site specificity of Songdo Beach, the advertisement will convey a story of the forgotten past that was once glorious (Remembrance), the changing present (Marks), and the future that is yet to come (People), lined at the same starting point with the Sea Art Festival (With Songdo).
Suk-Jin Hong, an independent filmmaker who will be making the video advertisement for the Sea Art Festival 2013, has previous experiences in shooting promotional videos for events such as the Ansan Street Arts Festival and the Rejuvenation Project, and also was awarded at the Montreal World Film Festival for his short film “Who Killed the Goldfish?” His works are known for tight and dynamic transitions between scenes and were thought to be well suited for an advertisement that needs to deliver information in a short period of time, which led to the Organizing Committee’s decision in selecting him as the producer of the video advertisement for the Sea Art Festival 2013.
The public will be able to see the video advertisement through various media, including television networks, MBC Busan and KNN, and outdoor billboards along with a radio commercial, scheduled to be recorded by Every Single Day, a modern rock trio, which will be aired on TBN, Traffic Broadcasting Network, MBC Busan, and KNN.
